Fun, Safe, Cheap Family fun

As my boys are getting older their interests are changing as well. Now they like to go hang out with friends or invite their friends to our house and play video games or whatever-just not with us so much anymore.
I knew the time would eventually come and before it grasps them completely we take advantage of whatever “family” time we can get with them. Between work, school and sports schedules it’s not always that much… but one of our favorite things to do is just go to the neighborhood park and enjoy each other.
So last weekend we went to the park on Saturday and Sunday. We played catch with the baseball as a family. Hubby and I just sat in the shade on the grass and watched the boys chase each other like boys like to do. Then they played with some of the other kids they happened to know from school as we sat on a bench and talked.
All in all, it was a wonderful weekend. We all had fun enjoying each others company…and it didn’t cost a thing but maybe half a gallon of gas to get to and from the park. There isn’t too much that’s better than all being together enjoying the clean fresh outdoor air and having a good time-and it didn’t cost us a thing!
